Ismeth Raheem questions in the Exhibition Catalog, Whether the original photographs of the digital copies of the visits to Ceylon(1907) can be attributed to the Artist, particularly those documentary images of the pearl fisheries.
The National Geographic 1912 February article The Pearl Fisheries of Ceylon has presented 13 photographs. 11 are attributed as Photo by Andree
The other two on page 179 and 181 as Photo by Dr Hugh M. Smith the author of this article.
These two are included within the 17 photographs on the Pearl Fisheries from the 44 exhibited from 282 images from Ceylon, in the digital scans of about 1700 Glass negatives in Hornel collection.
This is clear evidence that the Hornel collection of glass negatives also include those he had commissioned to be taken or had purchased from other photographers.
My copy of the National Geographic of 1912 February was displayed at the exhibition at its opening on 2023 January 13th.
